Painting our Mums

We have been writing character descriptions about Mums and on Friday we got to paint our Mums with Miss Spence who is one of our college teachers.  Come in to see them next week. There are some very beautiful Mums out there.

Science fun with Miss Spence

Yesterday we did an experiment with red cabbage water to find out whether things were acids or bases. We got to taste the different powders first and Nuala found out some were yucky!  After we finished Miss Spence gave us some sherbet to take home.

The King has arrived!

Over the last three weeks Room 1 and 2 have been looking at how Africa celebrates its customs and traditions. The class decided on holding a festival where they would help cook the lunch, go on stage and perform a dance and more importantly celebrate the arrival of their King a.k.a Mr Richardson. The menu consisted of: Bobotie and rice, boiled pumpkin, corn, buns, Yassa, Kebabs, popcorn, peanuts and banana chips. Dessert consisted of fruit punch, fruit salad and kaimati. This was followed by dried mice!

Children enjoyed cooking their meal and performing for their King. The food was not to everyone's taste. The mice to the children's delight were not real.

Cricket players of the future

We have been practicing our cricket skills when the sun is shining. The children are working on their ball handling skills as well as their hand eye co-ordination when hitting the ball. It has been rewarding watching the children succeed in hitting the ball for the first time.

Finding out about baptism

We are currently looking at the sacraments and in particular baptism. Today we visited Father Aiden and he talked to us about what happens at baptism. Children had the opportunity to discuss any questions that they wanted answered.
